Lifesystems Partner with Mountaineering Scotland to Support Mountain Safety

Lifesystems is delighted to announce a new partnership with Mountaineering Scotland, focused on helping keep people safe when spending time in the mountains.

The partnership brings together Lifesystems’ experience in designing outdoor safety and survival equipment with Mountaineering Scotland’s role as the national representative body for hill walking, climbing and mountaineering in Scotland. Together, both organisations aim to promote informed preparation, responsible decision making and safer participation in mountain environments.

Mountaineering Scotland represents and supports around 16,000 members and 130 clubs across the country. Their work includes championing responsible access, developing skills and knowledge, providing safety guidance, and supporting conservation across mountain landscapes - playing a central role in shaping safe and responsible participation in Scotland's hills.

Why This Partnership Matters

Mountain environments demand preparation. Weather can change quickly, terrain is complex, and small issues can escalate without the right equipment or knowledge. This partnership reflects a shared understanding that safety is built through preparation, education and the use of reliable equipment.

Lifesystems develops products designed for use in demanding outdoor conditions. Mountaineering Scotland works directly with the community that relies on that equipment in real mountain environments. By working together, both organisations aim to support people before they set out, not just when something goes wrong.

The partnership will focus on supporting Mountaineering Scotland members through practical safety initiatives, including access to Lifesystems safety and survival equipment designed for mountain use, alongside shared safety messaging and educational content developed in close collaboration with Mountaineering Scotland’s Mountain Safety Team. Together, this work will promote good practice around preparation and self-reliance in the hills.

A Shared Commitment to Mountain Safety

Commenting on the partnership, Lifesystems Marketing Manager Tom Mahoney said:

“This partnership is a natural fit for Lifesystems and reflects our commitment to supporting people operating in challenging outdoor environments, where the right equipment and preparation matter. We look forward to building a strong and meaningful partnership with Mountaineering Scotland to support their work in improving safety awareness in the mountains.”

Mountaineering Scotland also emphasised the shared focus on safety:

“At Mountaineering Scotland, self-reliance and preparedness are at the core of what we promote. Our partnership with Lifesystems gives our members access to a range of equipment that supports their adventures in the hills.”

For hikers, campers, climbers and mountaineers, safety is not about carrying more gear. It is about carrying the right gear and knowing how to use it. Effective mountain safety combines sound judgement, practical knowledge and dependable equipment.

By aligning experience, education and product design, Lifesystems and Mountaineering Scotland aim to support safer participation across Scotland’s mountain landscapes.
