Top 5 Hiking Trails in the UK

The UK is home to some of the best hiking trails in the world, with rugged coastlines and snowcapped mountains, put on your boots grab a map and explore the top 5 hiking trails in the UK.

1. Edale Skyline, Peak District

This is a 22 mile hike through the beautiful hills which surround the Vale of Edale, this walk includes highlights including Win Hill, Hope Cross, Rushup Edge and Lose Hill. The hike has approximately 1,200 meters of ascent spread out through the 22mile, this is a Peak District must do!

2. Ben Lui, Scottish Highlands

Ben Lui is one of the most spectacular and shapeliest mountains in the Scottish Highlands with a height of 1120m. This 11 mile hike includes crossing the river Lochy via stepping stones at the start of the hike, you then make your way up the mountain through the forest path. This hike has some difficulties, but the stunning views make up for that.

3. Weymouth to Swanage, Dorset

This is a very difficult 27 mile hike from the Jubilee Tower on Weymouth sea front to Swanage. The hike has approximately 1000 metres of ascent and decent across the path. The route is simple, you just follow the beautiful coastal path - however it does take two to three days so overnight accommodation will be needed.

4. The Coniston Round, Lake District

The Coniston Fells are fronted by the face of Coniston Old Man and the cliffs of Dow Crag. These two mountains are enough draw for spirited walkers, however, the stunning array of peaks stacked up behind them shows why this walk has become a classic Lake District hike. This 14 mile hike is on high ridges all day with amazing views to every quarter - both out to coast and to the surrounding mountains.

5. The Calf & Cautley Spout, Howgill Fells, Cumbria

The name of this hike comes from its surroundings; the ‘spout’ is a spectacular 250m high waterfall which is the highest in the UK. The summit on the grassy hills above the spout is named The Calf. This 11 ½ mile hike climbs approximately 562 miles, the area is peaceful and quiet with spectacular views.
